The Cybersecurity Bachelor of Science degree program at American National University prepares graduates for careers in enterprise network security and security administration and management within government and industry organizations. The program focuses on protecting physical and information assets from unauthorized access, malicious cyberattacks, and corporate or government-sponsored espionage. Students develop a strong foundation in the principles and methods of cybersecurity while gaining practical skills in security and vulnerability assessment, threat analysis, and the implementation of network and infrastructure defense mechanisms. The curriculum also addresses advanced and emerging areas of cybersecurity, including biometric technologies, computer forensics, incident response, and disaster recovery, ensuring graduates are prepared to respond effectively to security incidents and organizational risk. Coursework is aligned with industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA A+ through IT101 and IT102, CompTIA Network+ through IT110 and IT111, and CompTIA Security+ through CY200, reinforcing essential competencies in systems, networking, and cybersecurity fundamentals. Advanced infrastructure and server security skills are further developed through Windows Server 2022 coursework in NET205, NET227, and NET228. Graduates of the program are well prepared to begin entry-level careers as information assurance specialists, network security administrators, or network security analysts, with the technical knowledge and applied skills required to defend modern enterprise environments.
Upon completion of the Cybersecurity Bachelor’s program, you should be able to:
